There are, however, a number of things you and your partner can do to maximize your efforts...and they all start with communication. First of all, the more you play together, the more you will know how the other plays. This will make it easier for you to come home with more money. You can get out of each other's way when you sense the other has the nuts.

As far as communication goes, discuss with your partner what your financial parameters are before any game. While partner strategy is really about knowing your partner's play...you should discuss the following highly sticky situation:


One of you is a short stack. The other has a healthy stack. You find yourself heads up, and the short stack goes all-in. If the one with the healthy stack calls the bet, YOU MIGHT KNOCK YOUR PARTNER OUT!

If you and your partner discuss your expectations up front, there will be no hurt feelings later when one busts out the other. In a sense, knocking out your partner is like cutting off your own leg--especially if the money is all going to the same place!

The other great thing about playing with a partner is that you have someone to give you feedback and an objective opinion on your play. You really can make each other's play better by coaching yourselves. Also, with a partner you can "practice" together (by playing heads up, hosting home tournaments, and making mock games and activities to work on your weaknesses together).


IF YOU AND YOUR PARTNER MAKES ANY KIND OF "SIGN" TO EACH OTHER OR AGREE ON SOME "CODE WORD" OR ANYTHING OF THAT NATURE, IT IS CHEATING!!! NOT ONLY WILL YOU BE KICKED OUT OF THE GAME AND CASINO, BUT YOU CAN BE CRIMINALLY PROSECUTED.
